The Fund holds the largest Callas collection in the world — 5,000 original photographs, 200 hours of recordings. It receives no public subsidy: donations alone keep it alive.

A monthly gift, however modest, gives us what a one-off cannot: the visibility to undertake long restorations and to plan the opening of the Museum. Gifts are tax-deductible in France (66% for individuals, 60% for companies); donors elsewhere should seek local advice.

Choose your support

A monthly gift, to build over time

Three suggested levels, with no fixed term — change or stop at any time. The real cost shown applies to French taxpayers, after the 66% income-tax reduction.

Prefer a one-off gift? The same page allows it, for any amount. International donations (all currencies, cards and PayPal) go through Donorbox. Donors in France may prefer HelloAsso: no platform fee, the whole gift reaches the Fund, and the French tax receipt is issued automatically.

The Friends of Maria Callas

Beyond giving, the Société des Amis de Maria Callas brings together those who make the Museum possible. Membership circles run from €100 to €10,000 a year for individuals — from the archive of the month in preview to a seat on the Honorary Board — and from €25,000 to €50,000 for companies and institutions. To join before the opening is to belong to the founding circle.

For a significant commitment, a gift in kind or a partnership around the future Museum, write to us: these projects are built together, in full confidentiality.

Tax benefits

The Maria Callas Endowment Fund pursues a mission of general interest of a cultural nature. On that basis, gifts made to the Fund entitle the donor, subject to the conditions laid down by law, to a tax reduction:

  • Individuals — income-tax reduction equal to 66% of the donation, up to 20% of taxable income (Article 200 of the French General Tax Code). Any excess may be carried forward for five years.
  • Companies — tax reduction equal to 60% of the donation (up to €2m in donations, then 40% beyond), capped at €20,000 or 0.5% (5‰) of pre-tax turnover, whichever is higher (Article 238 bis of the French General Tax Code).
  • Legacies, gifts and life insurance — bequests and gifts made to the Fund are fully exempt from French transfer duties (Article 795, 14° of the French General Tax Code): everything you pass on serves the Fund's mission. Speak to your notary, and write to us to prepare your project in full confidentiality. (These provisions concern French taxation; donors abroad should seek local advice.)

A tax receipt is issued for every donation. Read more: Giving to an endowment fund — what the law says.
